R U OK? Day
Ask someone. And check in with yourself.
R U OK? Day is Thursday 10 September 2026. It is a reminder to ask the people around you how they are — and to mean it. This page is the quieter companion to that: a private, ten-minute check-in you can do for yourself, on your own device.
It is not instead of asking someone “R U OK?”. It sits beside it.
About ten minutes. No account. Your answers stay on this device.
Two different kinds of check-in
Asking “R U OK?” is a conversation with someone else. Guides for asking well live on the R U OK? website — that work is theirs.
How Are You, Really? is a private self check-in: simple questions, answered on your screen, with a plain-language picture of how you’re tracking. No account. Nothing sent to a server. Not a diagnosis, and not a clinical tool.
If anything feels heavy
You don’t have to wait for a crisis to reach out. Australian support options are on this site — a GP is a good first step, and more services are listed here.

Questions, answered plainly
Is this the same as R U OK?
No. R U OK? is a national campaign about asking someone else how they are. This is a private wellbeing check-in you complete for yourself. They can sit beside each other — one is a conversation; the other is a private look at how you’re going. This is not a replacement for asking “R U OK?”.
Are you affiliated with R U OK?
No. This is not a partnership, sponsorship, or official campaign page. We mention Thursday 10 September 2026 and link ruok.org.au as an external resource because it is a good place to start a conversation with someone else. We do not use their marks as our own, and we do not claim they endorse this check-in.
Is this a clinical tool?
No. It is a free, informal self-reflection check-in — more like a thoughtful journal prompt with a bit of structure. It is not a diagnosis, not a test you pass or fail, and not a substitute for talking with a GP or a mental health professional.
Is it private?
Yes. There is no account and no login. Your answers are worked out in your browser and are not sent to or stored on a server.
What if I'm in distress?
If you need to talk to someone, support is available any time. Lifeline (13 11 14) is 24/7. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. More Australian support options are on the support page.
